lyrics

I got Karma as a 6 week old kitten from the Syracuse, NY SPCA (http://www.cnyspca.org) when I was a junior in college at Syracuse University. I had originally gone to the shelter and picked a kitten but wasn't able to take him home that day, and when I went back, for some reason, the one I'd picked had been adopted to someone else. I am so glad this mistake happened because I ended up with my little dude, the runt of his litter, the only one of the litter who let me pick him up and seemed super chill. Good Karma.

This happened Labor Day weekend of 2001, right before the 9/11 attacks. I remember the day the campus learned what happened, most people went home to watch the news in a state of shock, and I did the same thing, but with the distraction of this little kitten running around my apartment. A reminder of how life continues its steady march onwards.
Now it is March 2018 and I still have him. I have had other cats come in and out of my life during that time (I adopted one who died unexpectedly of a heart attack, who knew??, adopted another who didn't get along with Karma so she ended up with a friend of mine, and I also fostered a cat for a few months) but Karma has remained my loyal pal for a bunch of years now. He is closing in on 17 years and still runs around like a freak, naps a bunch, and is in generally great health. I hope to have him around for as long as possible. Best little buddy.
